Linux Journal has kindly put up an archive with the full text of older articles, including some of mine from the first issue (1994) through the late 90s. If you have any trouble accessing these, let me know.

I think I forgot that you were such an old-timey Linux user. I installed my first Linux build in 1992. It was one of the very first Slackware distros, using a 0.86 kernel. The host machine was a 25 MHz i386 with 4MB RAM and a 125MB drive, which was still a decent computer at the time. Miraculously, I got all of my hardware working and could run X11. Most compatible software was targeted to other *nix'es at the time, so you had to hack them a little to get them to run (or even compile). Good times.
It's always a thrill to see something that's on the leading edge of a really big bell curve of adoption.
We were geeking out on similar stuff back then!
So what are the coming bell curves?
